1. Random Fact #121

William Howard Taft (p. 1909-1913) tipped the scales at 325lbs, and was pretty much the antithesis to Theodore Roosevelt’s “Strenuous Life” vision of a healthy, outgoing and adventurous man.

”Big Bill”, as he was commonly known, was so large that he often found himself stuck in the White House bathtubs, and required the help of several men to pull him out.  He rectified the situation by replacing the old tub with a new one; one large enough to fit four full-size men.

A big fan of baseball, Taft started the tradition of throwing out the first ball on opening day.
